Koa "Big Island Mo' Bedda" Coffee Table

A Hawaiian friend of mine, from my earliest woodworking days, dropped off this gorgeous Koa
crosscut tree section and asked me to work it into an "Eberhardt original" as a family heirloom.

So... I named it "Big Island Mo' Bedda'" and made it a theme piece with the "lava bark" and the
"wave lapped sands" of yellow sapwood rising up to the "hardtwood" concentric rings of a couple of "volcanoes"!

The black walnut (lava) base has all sorts of Islander depictions...erosion sculpted cliffs,
sails in full wind, surfers hanging ten (and one wiped out), and even silhouetted profiles at sunset...I imagine!
